President’s Hajj Greetings Message

Muslims around the world are celebrating the Hajj festival today with deep devotion and reverence.

According to Islamic belief, this Hajj celebration symbolizes the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah and his unparalleled sacrifice. It holds unique significance as it is connected to the sacred Hajj pilgrimage, which is the fifth pillar of Islam.

In a world facing one crisis after another, the Hajj festival offers a profound example of the importance of human unity and connection. Regardless of personal status, Muslims from all corners of the world gather together to perform religious observances, demonstrating to the world a remarkable example of equality and brotherhood.

Furthermore, despite the severe challenges faced globally due to the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East, Muslims undertaking the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca continue to reflect the boundless sacrifice and dedication shown by Prophet Ibrahim throughout his life.

Our government’s vision is to build a compassionate human society founded on peace, unity, and the common good rather than selfish interests. In that journey, I urge everyone to bring the values represented by Hajj — peace, brotherhood, and sacrifice — closer to our daily lives.

I also call upon all people to move forward together in brotherhood to further enrich Sri Lankan society with spiritual values and to build a developed nation that benefits everyone. At the same time, I extend warm Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims living in Sri Lanka and across the world.

Eid Mubarak!
