US Pacific Army Deputy Commander Visits Sri Lanka

Major General Giles Cornelia of the United States Pacific Army undertook an official visit to Sri Lanka from May 20 to May 23.
The visit was aimed at strengthening army-to-army discussions and enhancing bilateral military cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka.
During meetings with Sri Lanka Army Commander Lasantha Rodrigo and other senior military officials, extensive discussions were held on mutual security relations between the two countries.
Special attention was reportedly given to improving cooperation in key areas such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, military engineering collaboration, and military medical training programmes.
It was also stated that the United States is proud to partner with Sri Lanka in strengthening disaster preparedness, resilience in facing challenges, and regional security cooperation.
