Several Areas in Negombo Flooded Due to Heavy Overnight Rainfall

Several areas in the city of Negombo have been inundated following heavy rainfall that has continued since midnight.

In the Periyamulla area, locations including Gomes Watta, Rubber Watta, Deniyaya Watta, and Sellakanda have been severely affected by flooding. Similarly, several areas in Katuwa, including Puwakwatta, have also gone underwater.

Floodwaters have entered a large number of houses in these areas, forcing many residents to leave their homes and seek temporary shelter with relatives and friends.

Meanwhile, a section of the Thalupatha–Pallan Sena Road has been completely submerged, causing major inconvenience to motorists and the public.

Several internal roads in the city have also been flooded, disrupting transportation and daily activities in the affected areas.
