Final discussion on organizing “Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone” chaired by Prime Minister’s Secretary

The final discussion on the organization of the “Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone” was held on the 20th at Temple Trees (Ala Liru Maligawa) under the chairmanship of Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, discussions were held mainly on the preparatory arrangements for the Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone and the use of electricity during the Vesak period.
It was also clarified that the restrictions imposed by the government on fuel and electricity usage will be relaxed in view of the Vesak festival. In addition, information regarding the members of the committees appointed to successfully organize and coordinate the activities of the Vesak Zone was also collected.
Due to the current crisis situation, it has been decided to use fuel and electricity more economically compared to previous years. Accordingly, Vesak decorations have been designed in a way that emphasizes spiritual observance to engage devotees’ minds, rather than extravagant decorations, while minimizing fuel and electricity consumption, stated the Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple, Ven. Kirinde Assaji Thera.
He further stated that this year’s Vesak Zone will be open from 7:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Several officials representing the Tri-Forces, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Security Department, Prisons Department, Ministry of Power, and Ministry of Defence also participated in the event.
