Suspect Arrested Over Alleged Removal of Railway Track Nails After Accident

A suspect has been arrested in connection with allegations that nails were removed from the railway track at the site of today’s (16) early morning train accident.

The arrest was made by Peliyagoda Police, according to officials.

Police stated that the suspect is reportedly a heavy drug addict. Initial investigations suggest that he was responsible for collecting and transporting removed nails from the railway track to another location.

Authorities further confirmed that investigations are ongoing to arrest another suspect believed to be involved in the incident.

The case is being treated seriously as it may have contributed to the derailment of the train earlier today.
