Term of National Police Commission to End Tomorrow; Final Meeting Held Today

The term of the National Police Commission is set to expire tomorrow (15), Friday.
Accordingly, the final meeting of the Commission is scheduled to be held today (14), officials confirmed.
Although the term concludes tomorrow, current members will continue in their positions until new appointments are made.
The Commission was appointed on May 15, 2023, with retired High Court Judge Lalith Ekanayake serving as its Chairman.
The Chairman and four members of the National Police Commission are appointed by the President based on recommendations from the Constitutional Council.
