Man Killed in Ambalantota; Police Suspect Revenge Motive

Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into the killing of a man and the serious injury of another person in the Boguduya area of Mamadala South, Ambalantota.

Police stated that the deceased was a 34-year-old father of three children, while the injured individual was his father-in-law.

According to investigations, three individuals had arrived at the victim’s house intending to kill him. After the murder, the attackers allegedly removed the victim’s head and left it beneath a statue at the Mamadala junction before fleeing the area.

Police further revealed that the deceased had been a suspect in a triple murder that occurred on January 2 last year in the Alegoda West area of Ambalantota.

He had been remanded in custody in connection with that case and was released on bail on March 30 this year.

Investigators suspect the murder may have been carried out as an act of revenge related to the earlier triple homicide case.

Police also recovered a locally manufactured firearm believed to have been brought and abandoned by the attackers at the scene.

Further investigations are being conducted by Ambalantota Police.
