Jaffna Incident: Suspect Remanded Over Abuse of Minor

A suspect accused of subjecting an eight-year-old girl to abuse in Jaffna has been remanded until May 15, 2026, by a magistrate.

According to reports, the child, a resident of the Araly South area, was allegedly abused a few days ago by a young male relative from her mother’s side.

The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Vaddukoddai Police Station, following which the suspect was arrested yesterday (01).

The suspect was produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today (02), where the magistrate ordered that he be held in remand custody until the 15th of this month.
