Cyclone Didwa Impact: Temporary Housing to Begin in May

Temporary housing construction for families affected by Cyclone Didwa in the districts of Kegalle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Badulla is scheduled to commence in the first week of May.

The decision was taken during a special discussion held at Army Headquarters under the leadership of Aruna Jayasekara, State Minister of Defence.

Through this initiative, arrangements are being made to provide safe and comfortable temporary housing for around 1,000 displaced individuals within a short period.

The houses will be constructed with the engineering expertise and manpower support of the Sri Lanka Army.

This project is being implemented under the government’s national rebuilding program.

The State Minister has also instructed the Army to submit a detailed action plan with a clear timeline to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated period.
