Cuba Reaffirms Strong Ties with Sri Lanka During Parliamentary Meeting

Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Patricia Lazara Pero Guevara, met with Speaker (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne at Parliament yesterday (06) for discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
Parliamentary Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, both sides reaffirmed the long-standing friendly and strong relations between Sri Lanka and Cuba, which have continued for more than 65 years.
The Speaker extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Cuban Ambassador and recalled the historical ties between the two countries. He also paid tribute to Cuban leaders Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, appreciating their contributions to strengthening international solidarity.
He further expressed gratitude for Cuba’s continued support to Sri Lanka in multilateral forums, including sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
