The government has decided to increase the Special Commodity Levy on imported maize with immediate effect, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Finance.
Under the revised policy, the tax on one kilogram of imported maize has been increased by Rs. 50. The new tax rate will be in effect from May 5, 2026, until December 31, 2026.
The Ministry further stated that the relevant gazette notification regarding this tax revision was issued on May 4.
