Samson’s Match-Winning Century Earns Praise as CSK Crush Mumbai

Former CSK batter Ambati Rayudu highlighted the significance of Samson’s innings, especially given the limited contributions from other batters. Samson scored 101* off 54 balls, registering his second century of the season and anchoring the innings at Wankhede Stadium.

CSK posted 207/6 in their 20 overs, while Mumbai Indians were bowled out for just 104 in 19 overs, unable to handle CSK’s disciplined bowling attack.

Rayudu praised Samson’s composure and control, noting that he minimized risks while consistently rotating strike and finding boundaries. He emphasized that Samson understood the need to bat deep into the innings and take responsibility in a struggling batting lineup.

Samson’s innings included 10 boundaries and 6 sixes, as he remained unbeaten throughout the 20 overs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 22 off 14 balls, while Dewald Brevis added 21 off 11.

Former New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan also commended Samson’s smart shot selection, particularly his use of angles to find boundaries in the third-man region. He criticized Mumbai’s slow tactical response, noting they conceded valuable runs by not adjusting field placements quickly.

Among Mumbai’s bowlers, Allah Ghazanfar was the most economical with 2 wickets for 25 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed one wicket. Captain Hardik Pandya and Mitchell Santner were expensive, conceding 38 and 44 runs respectively.

Experts agree that Samson’s calculated and strategic batting was the decisive factor behind CSK’s emphatic win.
