Two Missing Fishermen Rescued Safely off Mullaitivu Coast

Two fishermen who went missing after setting out to sea from the Kallappadu area in Mullaitivu have been safely rescued today (4), according to local sources.

The two fishermen had left the Kallappadu coast on the morning of the 2nd at around 10:00 a.m. in a boat for fishing activities. However, as they failed to return to shore by the following day, concern grew among local fishing communities.

Fellow fishermen in the area initiated search operations, but initial efforts did not yield results. The incident was subsequently reported to the Navy, and coordinated search operations continued for a second day.

Investigations revealed that the boat carrying the two fishermen had suffered a mechanical failure while at sea, leaving them stranded in mid-ocean.

They were eventually located and rescued safely by fellow fishermen who had ventured out as part of the search efforts. Both individuals are reported to be in safe condition.
