Indian Naval Vessel INS Nireekshak Arrives in Colombo

The Indian Navy vessel INS Nireekshak arrived at Colombo Port this morning (21) to conduct a Mixed Gas Diving Training programme.

The vessel, classified as a Diving Support Vessel, was accorded a traditional naval welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy upon its arrival. It is commanded by Commander Sailesh Kumar Tyagi.

During its stay in Sri Lanka, INS Nireekshak will engage in joint training exercises with the Sri Lanka Navy, focusing on advanced diving techniques. The programme is expected to enhance operational capabilities and facilitate knowledge exchange between the diving units of both navies.

In addition, the ship’s crew is scheduled to participate in several activities aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and goodwill. They are also expected to visit culturally significant sites in Sri Lanka as part of their visit.
