
Sri Lanka Police have released the daily report on the island-wide special operation launched to combat crime and drug-related activities, following instructions from the Inspector General of Police.
According to the report, a total of 25,683 individuals were checked during yesterday’s operation, leading to the arrest of 396 suspects on suspicion.
Among those arrested, 25 individuals were identified as directly linked to criminal activities. In addition, 191 persons with outstanding warrants and 91 individuals with open warrants were taken into custody.
Police also arrested 67 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and 51 for reckless driving. A further 3,332 persons were apprehended for various traffic-related offences during the operation.
Authorities stated that such nationwide operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and law enforcement.
