12 Deaths Reported from Dengue

The National Dengue Control Unit has reported that 25,082 dengue cases have been recorded so far in 2026.

A higher number of cases has been reported in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Galle, Ratnapura, and Kalutara, as well as within the Colombo Municipal Council area. Community health specialist Dr. Prasheela Samaraweera highlighted this trend.

She also confirmed that 12 deaths have been reported due to dengue so far this year.

The public is advised that if a fever persists for more than two days, they should immediately consult a doctor to confirm whether it is dengue.

Until medical consultation, only Paracetamol should be used for fever, and other medications should be avoided. People are also urged to take proper precautions to prevent mosquito bites.
