Protests Erupt Over $2.5 Million Treasury Cyber Theft

Public outrage continues to grow over the incident in which USD 2.5 million, sent as a foreign debt installment by the Sri Lankan Treasury, was diverted to an unauthorized party.
A protest organized by Sarvajana Balaya was held today (27) in front of the Ministry of Finance Sri Lanka, demanding accountability over the incident.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) also staged a protest this morning in front of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, condemning the cyber theft.
In addition, several other demonstrations were organized in response to the issue. A separate protest led by Aragalaya Citizens Movement was also held near the Central Bank, highlighting public concern over financial security and governance.
The series of protests reflects increasing pressure on authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and take decisive action.
