Colombo | Political News

A motion condemning alleged pressure exerted on the judiciary by the executive was submitted to the Speaker today (06) by several Members of Parliament representing the opposition.

The motion, prepared under the guidance of the Opposition Leader, was formally handed over by Opposition Chief Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka, along with MPs J. C. Alawathuwala and Ajith P. Perera.

The move reflects growing concerns raised by opposition members regarding the independence of the judiciary and the need to safeguard it from external influence.
