Special Security and Traffic Plan in Colombo for May Day

A special security and traffic plan has been implemented in Colombo ahead of tomorrow’s International Workers’ Day (May 1), as May Day rallies, meetings, and various events are scheduled to take place across the country.
According to Sri Lanka Police, major rallies and gatherings will be centered in Colombo, while commemorative May Day events organized by different institutions and groups will also be held in other parts of the country.
The Police Media Division stated that instructions have been issued to all police stations to:
- Ensure a peaceful environment for May Day events
- Provide adequate security
- Implement traffic control and road safety measures 🚔
- Maintain smooth flow of regular traffic
In addition, the Inspector General of Police Sri Lanka has advised Senior Deputy Inspectors General in charge of provinces to take necessary measures regarding rallies and meetings taking place outside Colombo.
These measures aim to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions during the nationwide May Day events.
