Showers Expected Across Most Parts of the Country

The Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka has announced that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in most parts of the country after 1:00 PM.
According to the department’s statement issued on April 26, 2026, some areas in the Southern Province may also experience morning showers.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected at some locations in the Northern, North Central, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Trincomalee districts.
Misty conditions are likely during the early morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Central, and Uva provinces, along with some areas in the Kurunegala District.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize risks from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are also expected at times in the sea areas extending from Kankesanthurai to Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota, and up to Pottuvil.
