Minister Accepts Resignations of Shammi Silva and Committee

The Minister of Sports has accepted the resignations of Shammi Silva and members of the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Accordingly, under the powers vested by Sections 31 and 34 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, all administrative activities of Sri Lanka Cricket will be temporarily brought under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with immediate effect.

It is further reported that a committee will soon be appointed to address the existing issues in cricket and to implement structural reforms within the system.
