School Bus Accident in Bogawantalawa: 34 Students Injured

A bus traveling from the Kempion area towards Bogawantalawa town met with an accident this morning (28), according to Bogawantalawa Police.

The accident occurred in the Kotiyagala area along the Bogawantalawa–Balangoda main road.

The bus, which was transporting school students from the Kempion area, reportedly suffered a mechanical failure. As a result, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with an embankment.

Approximately 34 students who were on board sustained injuries and were admitted to the Bogawantalawa District Hospital.

Hospital sources further stated that several injured students were transferred to the Dikoya Base Hospital for advanced treatment.

The bus driver has been arrested in connection with the incident, and further investigations are being carried out by the Bogawantalawa Police.
