2026 Tamil Nadu Election Results: TVK Emerges as Single Largest Party

The counting of votes in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election has been fully completed, and the official results have been published on the website of the Election Commission of India.
According to the final results, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has secured victory in 108 constituencies, emerging as the single largest party in the state. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has been reduced to 73 seats, moving into the opposition.
In a major political development, DMK leader and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin suffered a shock defeat in the Kolathur constituency, losing to the TVK candidate.
Meanwhile, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has secured 53 seats, placing it in third position in the overall standings.
🔹 Alliance Performances
Under the DMK-led alliance:
- Indian National Congress won 5 seats
- Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) won 2 seats
- Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) won 1 seat
- Communist parties secured 1 seat each
- DMK itself won 59 seats
Under the AIADMK-led alliance:
- Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) won 4 seats
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 1 seat
- Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) won 1 seat
- AIADMK itself secured 47 seats
🔹 Vote Share and Total Votes
In terms of vote share:
- TVK: 34.92%
- DMK: 24.19%
- AIADMK: 21.21%
In total votes received:
- TVK: 17,226,209 votes
- DMK: approximately 5,895,000 votes
- AIADMK: 10,462,146 votes
These results mark a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, with TVK emerging as a dominant force, while traditional parties face notable setbacks.
