ITAK Agrees to 25% Representation for Women and Youth in Provincial Council Elections – MA Sumanthiran

M. A. Sumanthiran, General Secretary of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi and former Member of Parliament, stated that written agreement has been given to allocate 25% representation for women and youth at the time of submitting nominations for Provincial Council elections.

He further noted that this agreement was reached to facilitate the early conduct of Provincial Council elections under the previous electoral system.

Sumanthiran also stated that the government could proceed with the private member’s motion submitted by Shanakiyan Rasamanickam regarding the holding of Provincial Council elections.
