Risk of Measles Resurgence in Sri Lanka, Health Officials Warn

Health authorities have raised concerns over a possible resurgence of measles in Sri Lanka, despite the country previously being declared measles-free.
Two cases have been confirmed among children in the Colombo District, prompting fears of wider transmission across the country.
Parents are strongly urged to ensure that children who have not received the measles vaccine—or have only received one dose—complete the full immunization schedule without delay.
Sri Lanka was declared measles-free by the World Health Organization in 2019. However, officials warn that gaps in vaccination coverage could lead to the disease spreading again if preventive measures are not strictly followed.
