Over 1,030kg of Dried Turmeric Seized in Kalpitiya Operation

More than 1,030 kilograms of dried turmeric suspected to have been illegally imported into the country has been seized during a special operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The raid was conducted at Thillayadi Beach in Kalpitiya by naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command, including SLNS Vijaya. During the operation, 26 suspicious sacks were inspected.

Upon examination, authorities discovered approximately 1,030 kilograms of dried turmeric packed inside the sacks, believed to have been brought into the country unlawfully.

The seized stock has been handed over to the Sri Lanka Police in Kalpitiya for further legal action, according to the Navy Media Unit.
