Sri Lanka Welcomes Over 840,000 Tourists in 2026 So Far

Sri Lanka has recorded a total of 840,411 foreign tourist arrivals from January 1 to April 22, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
During the first 22 days of April alone, 99,777 tourists visited the country, with the highest single-day arrival recorded on April 2, when 6,624 tourists entered Sri Lanka.
India remains the leading source market, with 29,192 Indian tourists arriving since April 1. Other key contributors include:
- United Kingdom – 8,439
- Australia – 8,186
- China – 7,161
- Russia – 5,342
- France – 4,659
A notable number of visitors have also arrived from Germany, Switzerland, and Bangladesh.
The steady inflow highlights Sri Lanka’s continued recovery and growing appeal as a global travel destination.
