Court Orders Probe into Bank Accounts of Suspect in Ganemulla Sanjeewa Murder Case

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered a detailed investigation into the bank accounts of a suspect linked to the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the directive today (21) when the case was taken up before court. The order instructs the Colombo Crimes Division to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the financial transactions of the suspect, Ishara Sewwandi, who is currently under investigation.
Police informed the court that Ishara Sewwandi, identified as the 15th suspect in the case, had maintained a bank account at a private bank, which is now under scrutiny.
Following a request by investigators to proceed with further inquiries, the court directed authorities to submit a full report on both the suspect and her financial activities.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Colombo Crimes Division and the Sri Lanka Police.
