Premachandra, has resigned from his position.<\/p>\n<p>Kurunegala Mayor Attorney-at-Law Ananda Sahabandu stated that the resignation letter was officially handed over to him yesterday (06).<\/p>\n<p>In his resignation letter, Premachandra stated that he decided to step down due to his inability to reduce irregular administration, fraud, corruption, and unnecessary expenditure within the Municipal Council.<\/p>\n<p>He had been elected to the Kurunegala Municipal Council after securing the highest number of preferential votes from the Gangoda Ward No. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Premachandra further alleged several ongoing issues within the council, including unauthorized business activities, illegal constructions, misuse of fuel, irregular overtime payments, employees leaving workplaces after marking attendance, and the failure to maintain cleanliness in the city.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that these persistent problems and the lack of effective corrective action led to his decision to resign from office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National People\u2019s Power (NPP) member of the Kurunegala Municipal Council, P.W.
