A high-level delegation led by Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, who is currently on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka, met with Sri Lanka\u2019s Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa today (04) for bilateral discussions.<\/p>\n
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Health in Colombo.<\/p>\n
During the discussions, both sides focused on strengthening and modernizing Sri Lanka\u2019s primary healthcare services. Special emphasis was placed on the potential use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the healthcare sector, with both parties exchanging views on technological integration in medical services.<\/p>\n
The Russian delegation also presented details of an AI-powered medical device capable of detecting up to 42 different diseases.<\/p>\n
Both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in pharmaceutical production and supply chain management, aiming to improve efficiency and access to medicines.<\/p>\n
Minister Murashko also expressed Russia\u2019s readiness to provide advanced medical education and training opportunities for Sri Lankan doctors. He further invited Sri Lankan health officials, including Minister Jayatissa, to visit Russia to observe its modern healthcare system and AI-based treatment technologies.<\/p>\n
It was also agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries\u2019 health ministries would be signed in the future to formalize cooperation.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Hansaka Wijemuni, Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Levan Dzhagaryan, Secretary of the Ministry of Health Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, and Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, along with other senior officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
