A 7-member delegation led by Russian Health Minister Mr. Mikhail Murashko arrived in Sri Lanka today (3) morning.<\/p>\n
The delegation was warmly welcomed at the Special VIP Reception Area of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Science and Technology Minister Professor Krishantha Abeysena, Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Director (International Health) Dr. Anil Samaranyake, and the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Levan Dzhagaryan.<\/p>\n
A brief discussion was also held with the visiting delegation upon arrival.<\/p>\n
The Russian Health Minister and his team are currently on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n
During the visit, a special discussion is scheduled with Sri Lanka\u2019s Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector between Sri Lanka and Russia.<\/p>\n
The delegation is also expected to hold a separate discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.<\/p>\n
On the second day of the visit (4), the delegation plans to visit the Colombo National Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be reached between the two countries\u2019 health ministries.<\/p>\n
Discussions will focus on key areas such as pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, training of medical professionals, academic cooperation, Ayurveda medicine, digitalization, and health tourism.<\/p>\n
The Russian Health Minister and his delegation are scheduled to conclude their visit and depart from Sri Lanka on May 5.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
