An attempt to sell a one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl for Rs. 50,000 was reported yesterday (26) in the Punnai Neeravi Grama Niladhari Division, under the Dharmapuram Police Division in Kilinochchi.<\/p>\n

The suspects, identified as the child\u2019s mother, a man believed to be the father, and the woman who attempted to purchase the child, were apprehended by local residents and handed over to the Dharmapuram Police.<\/p>\n

According to further investigations, the woman from the Mathagal area in Jaffna, along with the accompanying man, had visited the Punnai Neeravi area to meet another individual. During the visit, they stated that they had two children and were unable to raise one of them, leading them to decide to sell the child.<\/p>\n
