{"id":456,"date":"2026-04-27T12:58:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T12:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/?p=456"},"modified":"2026-04-27T12:58:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T12:58:17","slug":"foundation-stone-laid-for-new-housing-units-in-badulla-under-upland-happiness-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/2026\/04\/27\/foundation-stone-laid-for-new-housing-units-in-badulla-under-upland-happiness-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation Stone Laid for New Housing Units in Badulla under \u201cUpland Happiness\u201d Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under the \u201cUpland Happiness\u201d housing initiative, the foundation stone for new housing units was laid yesterday (26) in the Badulla District.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was held under the patronage of Samantha Vidyaratna, Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, at Nayabedda Estate in the Bandarawela Divisional Secretariat Division and in the Malvan area of the Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat Division.<\/p>\n<p>This housing project is being implemented as a <strong>special measure to protect estate communities living in landslide-prone areas<\/strong>, with funding allocated by the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h3>Beneficiaries<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>11 families<\/strong> in Nayabedda Estate facing landslide risks<\/li>\n<li><strong>23 families<\/strong> in the Malvan area, Haldummulla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In total, <strong>34 houses<\/strong> will be constructed under this project.<\/p>\n<h3>Investment &amp; Facilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The government plans to allocate over <strong>Rs. 108 million<\/strong> for the housing scheme<\/li>\n<li>Each house will cost approximately <strong>Rs. 2.8 million<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>An additional <strong>Rs. 400,000<\/strong> will be spent on infrastructure facilities per unit<\/li>\n<li>Each beneficiary family will be granted <strong>10 perches of land<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Under the \u201cUpland Happiness\u201d housing initiative, the foundation stone for new housing units was laid yesterday (26) in the Badulla District.
