The Sri Lanka Railways<\/span><\/span> has announced that the Sagarika<\/em> train will resume operations from today (27) following its recent derailment.<\/p>\n

Transport Superintendent Asanga Samarasinghe<\/span><\/span> confirmed that the train will operate as usual from today.<\/p>\n

The train had derailed on the 24th while traveling from Beliatta to Maradana near the Waththuwa railway station, with 11 out of its 13 compartments<\/strong> going off track.<\/p>\n

Based on initial investigations, four railway staff members who were on duty at the time have been temporarily suspended. These include:<\/p>\n

  • The train driver<\/li>\n
  • The guard<\/li>\n
  • The assistant driver<\/li>\n
  • The assistant guard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Authorities stated that they will remain suspended until the completion of the investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n
