Japan\u2019s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to send a technical team to Sri Lanka to develop new projects based on the country\u2019s needs and priority requirements in the fisheries sector, according to Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar.<\/p>\n
The minister made this announcement during Sri Lanka\u2019s official visit to Japan to participate in the Ocean Conference for Island Nations held in Tokyo. During the visit, he met with officials of JICA.<\/p>\n
According to a statement shared on his official Facebook page, JICA officials agreed to continue providing support for the modernization of Sri Lanka\u2019s fisheries sector, while identifying technical and infrastructure-related gaps and offering sustainable solutions for long-term development.<\/p>\n
He further stated that, in response to his request, JICA has agreed to deploy a technical team to Sri Lanka to design new development projects based on the country\u2019s fisheries sector priorities and requirements.<\/p>\n
