The proposal was submitted by <strong>Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, Bimal Rathnayake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Government, approximately <strong>85% of the expressway\u2019s lighting system is currently non-functional<\/strong> due to repeated incidents of vandalism and theft.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the first phase, lighting improvements will be carried out at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peliyagoda Interchange<\/li>\n<li>Kerawalapitiya Interchange<\/li>\n<li>Seeduwa Interchange<\/li>\n<li>Ja-Ela Interchange<\/li>\n<li>The section from the New Kelani Bridge to the Peliyagoda Fish Market<\/li>\n<li>The section from Seeduwa to the Bandaranaike International Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project is expected to significantly improve <strong>road safety<\/strong>, enhance <strong>visibility for motorists<\/strong>, and provide a safer and more efficient travel experience along one of Sri Lanka\u2019s busiest expressways. \ud83d\ude97\ud83d\udca1\ud83d\udee3\ufe0f<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cabinet approval has been granted for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the road lighting system on the Colombo\u2013Katunayake Expressway, including the Kerawalapitiya Interchange.
