{"id":2050,"date":"2026-06-01T12:34:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/?p=2050"},"modified":"2026-06-01T12:34:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:34:06","slug":"proposals-invited-for-the-2027-budget-on-services-and-facilities-for-persons-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/2026\/06\/01\/proposals-invited-for-the-2027-budget-on-services-and-facilities-for-persons-with-disabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposals Invited for the 2027 Budget on Services and Facilities for Persons with Disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the government&#8217;s national policy goal of creating a <strong>&#8220;Barrier-Free Environment and an Inclusive Society,&#8221;<\/strong> proposals have been invited for programs and initiatives to be incorporated into the <strong>2027 National Budget<\/strong> relating to services and facilities for persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative was organized by the <strong>Parliamentary Caucus for Persons with Disabilities<\/strong>, which met on <strong>25 and 27 May 2026<\/strong> under the chairmanship of its President, Sugath Wasantha de Silva.<\/p>\n<p>The Parliamentary Caucus has been working through a multi-sectoral approach to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities, address barriers in accessing services and facilities, and find long-term solutions to challenges faced by the disabled community. Through the submission of proposals for the 2027 Budget, it is expected that the rights of persons with disabilities will be further protected and their full and effective participation in society will be strengthened.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of organizations for persons with disabilities, organizations working on their behalf, and professionals engaged in disability-related fields participated in the discussions and presented proposals aimed at both continuing existing programs and introducing new initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Parliamentary Caucus also took part in the event and contributed to the discussions.<\/p>\n<p>The proposals gathered during these sessions are expected to support future policy measures and budget allocations that will improve accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the government&#8217;s national policy goal of creating a &#8220;Barrier-Free Environment and an Inclusive Society,&#8221; proposals have been invited for programs and initiatives to be incorporated into the 2027 National Budget relating to services and facilities for persons with disabilities.
