Namal Rajapaksa, National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, stated that he is waiting to be summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department to record a statement regarding \u201cPillayan,\u201d and added that he also intends to raise several questions with the investigating officers.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks while speaking to the media after attending a religious observance held in Kurunegala on Thursday (28).<\/p>\n
He further stated that the current government is operating with a mindset of preventing any political party from coming into power in the future. He added that while his party continues its political activities, the government should not be afraid of it and should instead focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people.<\/p>\n
He also challenged the ruling National People\u2019s Power administration to hold elections, stating that the government should not merely claim a public mandate without testing it through elections.<\/p>\n
Referring again to the \u201cPillayan\u201d issue, he reiterated that he is waiting for the CID to summon him for questioning. He questioned how discussions could take place involving a person with an active arrest warrant being brought to a diplomatic mission.<\/p>\n
He also alleged that certain groups are attempting to intentionally discredit Buddhism.
