Northern Province Governor Nagalingam Vethanayagan, Northern Province Chief Secretary Thanuja Murugesan, Jaffna District Secretary M. Pradeepan, Members of Parliament K. Ilankumaran and Jayachandramoorthy Rajeevan, divisional secretaries, local council representatives, subject-related officials, and officers from the Navy, Army, and Police also participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion, the Minister expressed concern over the shortage of teachers, accommodation facilities for teachers, and security-related issues in the island regions. He particularly pointed out the lack of school buildings and basic facilities in Neduntheevu and emphasized the need to prepare a special action plan to address educational issues on a priority basis.<\/p>\n<p>Officials stated that the repair work of the boats \u201cNeduntharakai\u201d and \u201cVadatharakai,\u201d used for transportation to Neduntheevu, would be completed and the vessels would resume service next month.<\/p>\n<p>It was also announced that steps would be taken to obtain Treasury funding to establish a new RO (Reverse Osmosis) plant in Neduntheevu as a solution to the drinking water problem.<\/p>\n<p>Attention was also drawn to the shortage of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists in the island areas, as well as the need for ambulance services for emergency healthcare. Officials stated that an ambulance would soon be provided to Analaitivu.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities further noted that renovation work for hospitals in the island areas is being carried out with World Bank assistance. It was also revealed that more than 2,500 toilets are needed in the Jaffna District, and the Minister stated that this issue had also been highlighted during a meeting chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and should be given priority.<\/p>\n<p>To address the long-standing issue of cattle theft, it was proposed that the Police and Special Task Force jointly strengthen enforcement measures. It was also stated that security at the Mandaitivu checkpoint should be further strengthened in coordination with the Navy.<\/p>\n<p>The need to establish ATM machines of the Bank of Ceylon in Analaitivu, Pungudutivu, and Kurikattuwan was also highlighted, and officials assured that prompt action would be taken.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, MP Jayachandramoorthy Rajeevan stated that political revenge should not take place during the implementation of development activities and urged public officials to act with understanding and fairness.<\/p>\n<p>MP K.
