The Central Provincial Council was summoned before the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) to examine the Auditor General\u2019s three-year report for 2021\u20132023, the 2024 audit report, and the current performance report.<\/p>\n
The meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Kabir Hashim, Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts.<\/p>\n
During the discussion, officials were questioned regarding the progress made in implementing recommendations issued at a COPA meeting held on September 5, 2019. One of the major issues discussed was the destruction of documents belonging to the Central Provincial Passenger Transport Authority.<\/p>\n
It was revealed that instructions issued by the court and the Presidential Secretariat regarding the incident had not been implemented by the relevant authorities. The committee chairman instructed officials of the Central Provincial Council to submit all reports and correspondence related to the matter.<\/p>\n
The committee also discussed an incident in which a house belonging to the Road Development Authority had allegedly been leased to a third party in violation of legal lease conditions. Officials were instructed to identify those responsible for the decision and submit a report on possible legal action.<\/p>\n
In addition, the committee held lengthy discussions regarding irregularities and shortcomings identified by the National Audit Office in road development, passenger transport services, and health services within the Central Province.<\/p>\n
Commenting during the meeting, the chairman emphasized the importance of completing internal investigations promptly and focusing on future corrective measures. He also stated that profits earned by government institutions must ultimately benefit the government, and even when revenue is used for institutional purposes, all approved rules and procedures must be strictly followed.<\/p>\n
