The Women Parliamentarians\u2019 Caucus of the Parliament of Sri Lanka has decided to appoint a subcommittee to monitor future legal proceedings related to the reported incident involving a minor girl in Anuradhapura.<\/p>\n
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Caucus held in Parliament on Monday (25), chaired by Saroja Savithri Paulraj.<\/p>\n
The meeting focused on reviewing possible legal actions regarding the incident and ensuring the safety and protection of the affected child.<\/p>\n
Accordingly, a special discussion is scheduled to be held on the 5th of next month with relevant institutions, including the police, the Attorney General\u2019s Department, the National Child Protection Authority, and the Department of Probation and Child Care Services.<\/p>\n
The Caucus also discussed broader measures to eliminate violence against women and children, including identifying necessary legal and institutional reforms.<\/p>\n
