Pradeeban stated that Ayurvedic Protection Councils have been established in all 12 Divisional Secretariat divisions in Jaffna with the aim of preserving Ayurvedic traditions, protecting herbal resources, and promoting quality traditional medical services.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural ceremony of the Jaffna District Ayurvedic Protection Council was held on Tuesday (19) at the auditorium of the Jaffna District Secretariat under the chairmanship of Additional District Secretary K. Sivakaran.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking as the chief guest at the event, the District Secretary stated that there are currently 90 registered Siddha and Ayurvedic practitioners serving in both government and traditional medical sectors in the Jaffna district.<\/p>\n<p>However, he pointed out that there is no permanent Ayurvedic doctor serving in Neduntheevu, while only one practitioner each is serving in Maruthankerny and Karainagar. He further noted that the Nallur Divisional Secretariat division has the highest number of government traditional medical practitioners, with 27 doctors currently serving there.<\/p>\n<p>The District Secretary also highlighted that global confidence in Siddha and Ayurvedic medicine continues to increase day by day, and that many members of the Tamil diaspora living abroad are now returning to Sri Lanka seeking traditional medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Although Siddha and Ayurvedic treatments are generally considered long-term healing methods, people are increasingly turning toward these services with strong interest and trust, he said. As a result, Ayurvedic Protection Councils have now been established in all 12 Divisional Secretariats in the district.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, discussions were held on several important objectives of the district-level council, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preserving Ayurvedic traditions<\/li>\n<li>Promoting quality treatment services<\/li>\n<li>Raising public awareness<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring fake and low-quality medicines<\/li>\n<li>Protecting and developing herbal resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The District Secretary further stated that the council would serve as a bridge connecting government officials, medical practitioners, social activists, and the general public in order to build a healthier society.<\/p>\n<p>During the council formation, Dr. P. Prabhakaran, Director of the Kaithady Siddha Teaching Hospital, was appointed as the Chairman of the District Council.<\/p>\n<p>In addition:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. I. Thillaivasan was appointed as Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Dr. I. Gajan was appointed as Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>Dr. T.
