The annual grand festival of Nallur Kandaswamy Temple is scheduled to commence on August 17 with the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony and will continue for 25 consecutive days.<\/p>\n
As part of the preparations for the festival, the ceremonial \u201cPattolai\u201d notice relating to the annual festivities was officially handed over today, in accordance with long-standing temple customs, to representatives of the Jaffna Municipal Council.<\/p>\n
The ceremonial document was presented by the temple\u2019s Kanakku Pillai through the traditional \u201cKalanchi\u201d ritual method. It was formally received by Jaffna Mayor V. Manivathani and Municipal Commissioner Krishnendran.<\/p>\n
The Jaffna Municipal Council is expected to undertake several responsibilities during the festival period, including maintaining the temple surroundings, providing essential facilities for devotees, managing sanitation services, and implementing traffic arrangements and road barriers to ensure smooth transportation and public safety.<\/p>\n
This traditional ceremony of officially informing the municipal authorities ahead of the temple festival has been observed for many years as part of the cultural and religious customs associated with the historic temple.<\/p>\n
According to the festival schedule, the 24th day chariot festival (Ther Thiruvizha), regarded as one of the most significant events of the annual celebrations, will take place on September 9, while the sacred water-cutting ceremony (Theertha Thiruvizha) is scheduled for September 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
