Several rapid development projects are being carried out with the aim of improving the quality of the Sammanthurai Base Hospital and enhancing healthcare services provided to patients.<\/p>\n
As part of these efforts, urgent steps have been taken to establish essential medical units in a newly constructed modern building complex within the hospital. The hospital administration is also restructuring key departments to efficiently meet public healthcare needs while prioritizing patient welfare.<\/p>\n
In this context, the Regional Director of Health Services, Kalmunai, Dr. Saheela Izzadeen, visited the Sammanthurai Base Hospital on the 15th to inspect ongoing infrastructure changes and the operational readiness of the new medical units.<\/p>\n
During the visit, she inspected the new building complex and reviewed ward renovations, installation of new medical equipment, and procedures to ensure uninterrupted patient care services.<\/p>\n
A high-level discussion was also held regarding the hospital\u2019s current needs, existing shortcomings, and future development plans.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by the Hospital Director Dr. T. Prabashankar, specialist doctors, and Dr. M.C.M. Mahir, along with several other medical professionals.<\/p>\n
Key challenges discussed included the operational issues of new departments, current facilities in emergency care units, staff shortages, and required infrastructure improvements. Several decisions were made during the discussion to address these issues.<\/p>\n
It has also been reported that the newly constructed modern building, funded with assistance from the Government of China, will soon be officially opened.
