Wootler, Police Media Spokesperson and Assistant Superintendent of Police, stated that the injured passengers were admitted to nearby private hospitals following the accident.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted that one of the injured individuals was later transferred to the National Hospital of Colombo for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The train involved in the accident had reportedly departed from Polgahawela at around 3:25 a.m. and was travelling towards South Kalutara at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have launched further investigations to determine the cause of the derailment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A train derailment that occurred early this morning (16) between Wanawasala and Hunupitiya has left 12 passengers injured.
