{"id":1277,"date":"2026-05-15T05:19:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T05:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/?p=1277"},"modified":"2026-05-15T05:19:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T05:19:22","slug":"parliament-to-convene-from-may-19-to-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamilmail.lk\/english\/2026\/05\/15\/parliament-to-convene-from-may-19-to-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament to Convene from May 19 to 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Acting Secretary General of Parliament of Sri Lanka, Hansa Abeyratne, stated that Parliament is scheduled to convene from May 19 to May 22.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was taken during a recent meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Deputy Speaker Rizvie Salih.<\/p>\n<p>According to the schedule, on all sitting days Parliament business listed under Standing Order 22 (items 1 to 6) will be conducted from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>This will be followed by time allocated for oral questions from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., while questions under Standing Order 27(2) will be taken up from 11.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.<\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday, May 19<\/h3>\n<p>From 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., time has been allocated for the second reading debate on the Prevention of Terrorism Bill.<\/p>\n<p>Following that, from 5.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., time has been set aside for an adjournment motion brought forward by the Opposition.<\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday, May 20<\/h3>\n<p>From 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., an adjournment debate on the 2025 Economic Review Report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, presented by the Government side, will take place.<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, May 21<\/h3>\n<p>From 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act and nine resolutions under the Appropriation Act will be taken up for debate.<\/p>\n<h3>Friday, May 22<\/h3>\n<p>From 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., condolence motions will be taken up in memory of former Members of Parliament:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tissa Vitharana<\/li>\n<li>S. G.
