Cabinet approval has been granted for the establishment of a trust fund to manage the activities of the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n
The 11-storey cultural centre was constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India with the objective of promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of Jaffna, while also strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation.<\/p>\n
According to a Cabinet decision made on February 21, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed regarding the maintenance and operation of the cultural centre. Under this agreement, a joint management committee was appointed to make decisions related to the centre\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n
As per the agreement, once the construction project was completed, the cultural centre was to be handed over to the Jaffna Municipal Council through the Government of Sri Lanka. Following this transfer, the relevant parties agreed to establish a trust fund to oversee management activities.<\/p>\n
The draft trust deed prepared for this purpose has already received the approval of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n
Accordingly, Cabinet approval has now been granted for the proposal submitted by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to establish the trust fund for the continued management and administration of the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
